Olsalazine
Anticancer/Antiinflammation Agent
Olsalazine is an orally active prodrug of 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA), primarily functioning as an anti-inflammatory and anticancer agent. It effectively inhibits cell proliferation and induces apoptosis, contributing to reduced disease activity index (DAI) and myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity, while also downregulating inflammatory cytokine levels.
