Omeprazole sulfone

Ulcer Healing Supporter

Omeprazole sulfone is a primary metabolite of omeprazole that functions as an ulcer healing supporter. It enhances the migration of gastric epithelial cells under baseline conditions and counteracts the inhibitory effects of Indomethacin on cell migration, promoting optimal gastric health. Omeprazole sulfone does not affect cell proliferation or upregulate COX-2 expression, nor does it activate key signaling pathways. Its mechanism provides a potential avenue for research into gastric ulcer repair and related therapeutic applications under non-acid-dependent conditions.
