Orazipone

Small Molecule Immunomodulator

Orazipone is a small molecule immunomodulator known for its potent anti-inflammatory properties. It operates by forming reversible thiol complexes that interact with intracellular signaling proteins and glutathione thiol groups. This compound effectively induces apoptosis in eosinophils and inhibits the activation of inflammatory transcription factors, including NF-kB and STAT 1, thus decreasing inducible iNOS expression and nitric oxide production during inflammatory responses. Additionally, Orazipone reduces NADPH oxidase activity, leading to diminished reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. It also demonstrates protective effects against intestinal radiation injury, making it valuable in research applications focused on inflammation and oxidative stress.
