Orbofiban

platelet GPIIb/IIIa antagonist

Orbofiban is an orally active antagonist of the platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa receptor, which plays a critical role in platelet aggregation and thrombus formation. By inhibiting this receptor, Orbofiban effectively reduces platelet aggregation, making it a valuable tool for research into thrombosis and cardiovascular diseases. Its application extends to studies focused on the mechanisms of platelet function and the development of antiplatelet therapies.
