Ouabagenin

LXR Ligand

Ouabagenin is a naturally occurring ligand for Liver X Receptors (LXR) and functions as a selective agonist. It exhibits significant biological activity by inhibiting the Na(+)/K(+)-transporting ATPase (EC 3.6.3.9). This reagent is utilized in research focusing on cholesterol metabolism, atherosclerosis, and potential therapeutic pathways related to metabolic disorders. Its role as an LXR agonist makes it valuable for studies investigating the regulation of lipid homeostasis and inflammatory responses.
