Oxazolone

Colitis Inducer

Oxazolone is a potent haptenizing agent primarily targeting colitis induction. It effectively induces both acute and chronic inflammation of the large intestine, facilitating models for the study of colitis. This compound triggers Th1/Th2-dependent immune responses, resulting in significant weight loss and diarrhea. Inflammation elicited by Oxazolone can be attenuated through the use of neutralizing antibodies against IL-4 or TNF-α, or by employing decoy IL-13R2-α-FC proteins.
