Penicillin amidase, E. coli (Immobilized)

Amidohydrolase

Penicillin amidase, E. coli (Immobilized) is an amidohydrolase enzyme primarily involved in the biocatalytic synthesis of semi-synthetic penicillins. This enzyme facilitates the synthesis of semi-synthetic β-lactam antibiotics and contributes to peptide synthesis as well as the formation of chiral compounds. Furthermore, it plays a role in the assimilation of aromatic compounds in E. coli, operating under temperature and phenylacetic acid regulation. As an essential enzyme in microbial metabolism, penicillin amidase may also function in bacterial quorum sensing by scavenging phenylacetyl-containing compounds.
