Penicinoline

Secondary Metabolite

Penicinoline, a pyrrolyl 4-quinolinone alkaloid, acts as a secondary metabolite derived from the endophytic fungus Penicillium sp. This compound exhibits potent antimalarial activity against both Chloroquine-sensitive (pf3d7) and Chloroquine-resistant (pfDd2) strains of Plasmodium falciparum. Additionally, Penicinoline demonstrates strong insecticidal properties against Aphis gossypii and shows selective anticancer effects with significant cytotoxicity in 95-D and HepG2 cell lines, making it a valuable tool for research in parasitology, entomology, and oncology.
