Pentabromophenol

brominated flame retardant

Pentabromophenol (PBP) is a brominated flame retardant known for its role in reducing the flammability of various materials in consumer products. PBP functions by promoting clathrin-mediated endocytosis, which accelerates the degradation of transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) receptors and consequently inhibits the TGF-β signaling pathway. Additionally, PBP has been shown to induce apoptosis in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), making it relevant for studies in cell death and signaling pathways.
