Pentachloroaniline

Reductive Substrate

Pentachloroaniline is a pentachlorinated aromatic amine that acts as a substrate for reductive dehalogenation reactions, primarily serving as a metabolite of the pesticide quintozene. This compound can be reduced to yield various trichloroanilines and dichloroanilines, thereby playing a significant role in environmental studies related to the degradation of chlorinated compounds. It is important to note that pentachloroaniline does not initiate its own dehalogenation process in Desulfitobacterium frappieri PCP-1 and instead requires induction by 3,5-dichlorophenol for conversion.
