Pentacosafluorotridecanoic Acid

TSH Receptor

Pentacosafluorotridecanoic Acid primarily targets the TSH receptor and is classified as a perfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS). It demonstrates significant biological activity by inducing yolk sac edema and increasing mRNA expression of thyroid hormone synthesis genes, such as tshβ, in zebrafish at concentrations of 0.1 and 0.3 mg/L. Additionally, in rat models, administration of Pentacosafluorotridecanoic Acid at 10 mg/kg results in decreased serum testosterone and luteinizing hormone levels, alteration of fatty acid profiles in the testis, and a reduction in Leydig cell numbers during late puberty. Its presence in maternal plasma has been correlated with the development of eczema in female infants, and higher levels have been observed in cancerous human livers compared to non-cancerous tissues.
