Perfluoroenanthic acid

Perfluoroalkyl Substances

Perfluoroenanthic acid is a perfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS) known for its potential to disrupt reproductive health. It adversely affects the development of seminiferous tubules and m6A RNA methylation in the testes of offspring mice exposed during pregnancy, leading to reproductive toxicity and impaired spermatogenesis. Additionally, perfluoroenanthic acid influences dendritic spine morphology and synaptic formation in primary cortical neuron cultures, resulting in enhanced neuronal activity and synaptic transmission, as well as increased expression of synapse-related proteins such as Synaptophysin and PSD95.
