Phosphofructokinase 1

Regulatory Enzyme

Phosphofructokinase 1 (PFK1) is a key regulatory enzyme that governs the glycolytic pathway. It catalyzes the phosphorylation of fructose-6-phosphate (F6P) to fructose-1,6-bisphosphate (F1,6BP), thereby modulating glycolytic flux. PFK1 is crucial for research into cancer metabolic reprogramming, such as adaptations to hypoxia and resistance to oxidative stress, as well as studies focused on various metabolic syndromes.
