Phytanoyl-CoA

Phytanate CoA Derivatives

Phytanoyl-CoA is a coenzyme A derivative of phytanic acid, functioning primarily as a substrate for phytanoyl-CoA 2-hydroxylase (PAHX). This enzymatic conversion yields 2-hydroxyphytanoyl-CoA, playing a critical role in the metabolism of branched-chain fatty acids. Phytanoyl-CoA is essential for studying metabolic pathways associated with peroxisomal biogenesis and disorders related to phytanic acid accumulation.
