Picolinafen

PDS Inhibitor

Picolinafen is a pyridine-class herbicide that functions as a phytoene desaturase (PDS) inhibitor. It effectively controls broadleaf weeds by disrupting carotenoid biosynthesis, leading to cytotoxic effects in porcine trophectoderm (pTr) and luminal epithelial (pLE) cells. Picolinafen induces the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), calcium depletion, and activates MAPK and PI3K signaling pathways, resulting in decreased cell viability, increased apoptosis, impaired migration, and altered expression of implantation-related genes. Additionally, it demonstrates toxicity during zebrafish embryogenesis, with an LD50 value of 2.7 mg/kg in mammals and 7 μg/L in aquatic organisms.
