Pinokalant

Cation Channel Blocker

Pinokalant is a non-selective cation channel blocker that has demonstrated significant effects on cerebral ischemia. In preclinical studies, Pinokalant reduces cortical infarct volume and enhances the metabolic and electrophysiological status of the ischemic penumbra following middle cerebral artery occlusion in rodents. Additionally, it decreases lesion size observed on magnetic resonance imaging during the acute phase of ischemic stroke. This compound may also have potential applications in researching anti-SARS-CoV-2 activity.
