Pirsidomine

Sydnonimine Compound

Pirsidomine is a sydnonimine compound that serves as a nitric oxide donor. It has the ability to convert into a nitric oxide-releasing metabolite in vivo, demonstrating significant effects on cardiovascular physiology. In preclinical models, Pirsidomine effectively prevents occlusion-induced increases in flow in non-occluded coronary arteries and markedly reduces blood flow in non-ischemic areas during myocardial infarction studies. This compound is valuable for research applications focused on cardiovascular diseases.
