Polynucleotide kinase

Polynucleotide Kinase

Polynucleotide Kinase is an enzyme that facilitates DNA repair through its dual function as a 5’-kinase and 3’-phosphatase. It catalyzes the transfer of phosphate from ATP to a 5’-hydroxyl (OH) terminus, while also converting 3’-phosphate termini to 3’-OH termini. This activity is crucial for maintaining genomic integrity and is widely utilized in molecular biology applications, including DNA manipulation and recombinant DNA technology.
