Prostaglandin D synthase

Biomarker for Coronary Artery Disease

Prostaglandin D synthase is a lipocalin-type enzyme that serves as a biomarker for coronary artery disease. It is found in the atherosclerotic plaques of the human coronary artery and is detectable in human serum. This enzyme plays a pivotal role in the synthesis of prostaglandin D2, which is involved in various physiological and pathological processes. Research applications include the study of cardiovascular diseases and the development of therapeutic strategies targeting atherosclerosis.
