Protein A (SPA)

immunoglobulin-binding protein

Protein A is an immunoglobulin-binding protein generated by Staphylococcus aureus, primarily targeting the Fc region of antibodies. It possesses significant biological activities, including the blockade of opsonophagocytosis, induction of B cell apoptosis, and formation of toxic immune complexes with IgG that lead to leukocyte necrosis. This reagent is valuable for research applications related to immune system disorders, including studies on virulence mechanisms and immune responses.
