Pseudomonas quinolone signal

Quorum-sensing Signaling Molecule

Pseudomonas quinolone signal (PQS) is a quorum-sensing signaling molecule derived from Pseudomonas aeruginosa, primarily functioning through the las quorum-sensing system. PQS is integral to regulating the expression of virulence factors, particularly lasB, and is involved in critical biological processes including iron acquisition, cytotoxicity, and outer-membrane vesicle biogenesis. Additionally, PQS modulates host immune responses, making it a valuable reagent for research into bacterial communication and pathogenicity mechanisms.
