(Rac)-Atomoxetine hydrochloride is a racemic mixture that acts primarily as a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, showing Ki values of 5 nM for norepinephrine, 77 nM for serotonin, and 1451 nM for dopamine transporters. This compound enhances catecholaminergic neurotransmission in the prefrontal cortex and also exhibits potent blockades of voltage-gated sodium channels. (Rac)-Atomoxetine hydrochloride is employed in research focused on attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and related neurobiological studies.
