Rebamipide

Gastroprotective Agent

Rebamipide is an orally active gastroprotective agent primarily targeting the enhancement of endogenous prostaglandin (PG) production, particularly intragastric PGE2, through the induction of COX-2 expression. This compound plays a crucial role in protecting the gastric mucosa from injury and demonstrates anti-proliferative activity against gastric cancer cells. Rebamipide is valuable for research applications concerning mucosal protection, gastroduodenal ulcers, gastritis, and gastric cancer.
