Restrictocin

Endoribonuclease

Restrictocin is a potent endoribonuclease that specifically cleaves the conserved sarcin/ricin loop (SRL) in 23S-28S rRNA. By interrupting GTPase activation during the binding of elongation factors to the ribosome, it effectively halts protein synthesis and can induce apoptotic cell death. This compound is valuable for studies investigating mechanisms of ribosomal inhibition and cellular response to stress.
