Selectin Antagonist

Rivipansel is a small-molecule glycomimetic that acts as a pan-selectin antagonist, primarily targeting E-selectin and P-selectin. By binding to the lectin domain of E-selectin, Rivipansel selectively inhibits the recognition of CD62L, while leaving PSGL-1 binding unaffected. This compound effectively disrupts the adhesion of hematopoietic cells to endothelial cells, making it valuable for research focused on sickle cell disease and related vascular conditions.
