(S)-(-)-Felodipine

Antihypertensive Agent

(S)-(-)-Felodipine is the S-enantiomer of Felodipine, functioning as a selective vasoselective calcium antagonist and serves as an antihypertensive agent. This compound effectively inhibits the activation of vascular effector cells and disrupts the contractile processes in vitro. In canine models, (S)-(-)-Felodipine has demonstrated the ability to reduce mean arterial blood pressure by approximately 20%. Additionally, it exhibits a high metabolic rate in liver microsomes from both rat and dog, making it a valuable reagent for cardiovascular research applications.
