S-Thanatin

Bacteriostat

S-Thanatin is an insect-derived antimicrobial peptide that exhibits significant bacteriostatic activity. It demonstrates broad-spectrum effectiveness against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, as well as fungi, while maintaining low cytotoxicity. The antibacterial properties of S-Thanatin are stable across a range of pH values; however, the presence of monovalent cations such as sodium and potassium may diminish its activity against Gram-negative bacteria in a dose-dependent manner. This compound is valuable for research into antimicrobial mechanisms and potential therapeutic applications in combating bacterial infections.
