Saccharin sodium

Artificial Sweetener

Saccharin sodium is a non-caloric artificial sweetener that primarily targets taste receptors in the oral cavity and gastrointestinal tract. It possesses bacteriostatic properties and has been shown to modulate the microbiome. Saccharin sodium specifically binds to the heteromeric G protein-coupled receptors T1R2/T2R3 in both humans and rodents, as well as to the bitter taste receptors T2R43 and T2R44. Its antibacterial effects make it useful in various in vitro research applications.
