Saccharolactone

β-glucuronidase Inhibitor

Saccharolactone is a potent inhibitor of β-glucuronidase, targeting this enzyme to significantly reduce biliary endogenous β-glucuronidase activity in rat bile. It stabilizes glucuronide metabolites in vitro, contributing to its effectiveness in research settings. Additionally, Saccharolactone strongly inhibits the cytochrome P450 isoforms CYP1A2, CYP2D6, CYP3A4, and CYP2C8, with an IC50 of less than 4 mM, making it valuable for studying drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics.
