Sanleng acid

Unsaturated Fatty Acid

Sanleng acid is an unsaturated fatty acid derived from the hexane extract of Magnolia sieboldii. It exhibits anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting the expression of inflammatory mediators, such as COX-2, and pro-inflammatory cytokines, including TNF-α and IL-1β. Additionally, Sanleng acid enhances the expression of tight junction proteins (claudin-4 and claudin-5), thereby supporting epithelial barrier function. This compound is relevant for research on conditions such as reflux esophagitis.
