Bile Acid Transporter Inhibitor
SC-435 is an orally active inhibitor of the apical sodium-dependent bile acid transporter (ASBT). This compound effectively reduces neurotoxic bile acids and ammonia levels in the bloodstream by targeting intestinal ASBT, thereby mitigating liver and neurological damage associated with liver failure. Additionally, SC-435 influences hepatic cholesterol metabolism and decreases plasma low-density lipoprotein cholesterol concentrations, making it a valuable tool for research in liver disease and cholesterol modulation.
