Selenodiglutathione

Selenium Metabolite

Selenodiglutathione (GSSeSG) is a selenotrisulfide and key selenium metabolite conjugated with two glutathione units. This compound induces DNA damage, including base oxidation and strand breaks, while promoting apoptosis in target cells. Selenodiglutathione demonstrates notable cytotoxicity against breast cancer cells through preferential cellular uptake and increased intracellular selenium concentrations. It is particularly valuable for research focused on breast cancer mechanisms and therapeutic strategies.
