Solanidine

Anticancer Agent

Solanidine is an orally active cholestane alkaloid that serves as an anticancer agent. Isolated from potato, Solanidine has been shown to decrease RAD51 levels while increasing γH2AX and p53 expression. This compound exhibits anti-tumor effects in LLC tumors and lung cancer models, while also promoting breast cancer cell proliferation. Additionally, Solanidine reduces neovascularization and has been associated with reproductive effects in certain animal models.
