Stromemycin

Stromelysin Inhibitor

Stromemycin is a selective inhibitor of stromelysin, an enzyme implicated in extracellular matrix remodeling and various pathological processes. In addition to its primary role as a stromelysin inhibitor, Stromemycin exhibits moderate antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium, particularly when used in combination with Compound 5, enhancing its efficacy. Notably, Stromemycin does not demonstrate significant cytotoxic effects on HCT-116 colorectal cancer cells, making it a valuable tool for studying stromelysin's role in different biological contexts.
