Sucrose octaacetate

Bitter Additive

Sucrose octaacetate is an acetylated derivative of sucrose primarily used as a bitter additive. It exhibits a potent bitter taste, serving as an effective surrogate in food formulations to deter unintentional ingestion. Additionally, it finds applications as a plasticizer and adhesive, and is incorporated into various pesticides and insecticides to minimize accidental poisoning risks. Furthermore, sucrose octaacetate can function as an in situ seed and soft template for the synthesis of polyaniline (PANI) nanofibers, facilitating advancements in materials science research.
