T-Cadinol

Sesquiterpene

T-Cadinol is a sesquiterpene derived from Cupressus sylvestris, known for its anti-Trypanosoma cruzi activity. It demonstrates potent efficacy with IC50 values of 18.2 μM and 15.8 μM against the trypomastigote and amastigote forms, respectively. The compound induces mitochondrial damage in parasites, resulting in membrane hyperpolarization and reduced reactive oxygen species levels. T-Cadinol is relevant for research focused on Chagas disease and its treatment strategies.
