T4 DNA ligase

DNA Ligase

T4 DNA ligase is an ATP-dependent enzyme that functions as a DNA ligase, facilitating the repair of single-stranded nicks in double-stranded DNA and joining duplex DNA restriction fragments with both blunt and cohesive ends. This enzyme effectively seals adjacent 5′-phosphate and 3′-hydroxyl termini at single-stranded breaks, making it essential for various molecular biology applications, including cloning, recombinant DNA technology, and the construction of plasmid vectors. Due to its ability to ligate single-stranded DNA in the absence of duplex DNA, T4 DNA ligase is a versatile tool in genomic research and genetic engineering.
