Taltrimide

Anticonvulsive Agent

Taltrimide is a lipophilic derivative of Taurine that functions as an anticonvulsive agent primarily by inhibiting sodium-independent binding of Taurine to synaptic membranes in the brain. This compound demonstrates significant anticonvulsive activity in experimental epilepsy models, while having a lesser impact on GABA binding. Taltrimide is valuable for research aimed at understanding seizure mechanisms and evaluating potential therapeutic interventions for epilepsy.
