Tartronic acid

Dicarboxylic Acid Derive

Tartronic acid is a dicarboxylic acid derivative that functions as an inhibitor of carbohydrate conversion into fat, particularly under fat-deficient dietary conditions. It enhances 3T3-L1 adipocyte differentiation by upregulating key proteins such as FABP-4, PPARγ, and SREBP-1. Additionally, tartronic acid promotes de novo lipogenesis while inhibiting CPT-1β through the upregulation of acetyl-CoA and malonyl-CoA. This compound is valuable for research into lipid metabolic diseases, particularly in the context of obesity and adipocyte function.
