TBHBA

Modifier

TBHBA (2,4,6-Tribromo-3-hydroxybenzoic acid) functions as a modifier with significant applications in colorimetric assays and nanomaterial surface modification. It reacts with oxidants like hydrogen peroxide to produce high-absorbance quinoneimine dyes, thereby enhancing the sensitivity in enzymatic HDL cholesterol assays. Additionally, TBHBA serves as a bromine-containing coupling agent, facilitating the modification of silica nanoparticles through esterification, which improves the thermal stability and flame retardant properties of polymer nanocomposites. Its applications extend to clinical biochemical testing and the development of flame-retardant materials.
