Theaflavin-3'-gallate

Anticancer Agent

Theaflavin-3'-gallate is a naturally occurring monomer of theaflavins derived from black tea, recognized for its anticancer properties. This compound exhibits anti-UVB damage activity while inhibiting cell apoptosis and necroptosis. By acting as a pro-oxidant, it induces oxidative stress in cancer cells and effectively inhibits xanthine oxidase (OX) with an IC50 of 7.6 μM, making it a valuable reagent for cancer research applications.
