Tiazofurin

IMP Dehydrogenase Inhibitor

Tiazofurin is a synthetic nucleoside analogue that acts as an inhibitor of inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH). It is metabolized intracellularly to tiazole-4-carboxamide adenine dinucleotide (TAD), leading to its antineoplastic effects. Tiazofurin has been shown to enhance interleukin-6 (IL-6) autosecretion in K562 cells and exhibits anti-orthopoxvirus and anti-variola activities. This compound is valuable for research in leukemia and lung cancer studies.
