Tienilic acid

Diuretic Hypotensive Agent

Tienilic acid, a diuretic hypotensive agent, primarily functions by promoting increased urine output and decreased blood pressure. While demonstrating significant biological activity in managing hypertension, Tienilic acid has been noted to induce hepatotoxicity. This compound is metabolized into reactive electrophilic metabolites by cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes, which may contribute to its biological effects and safety profile in research applications.
