Tragacanth gum

Cell Adhesion Promoter

Tragacanth gum is an anionic polysaccharide that serves as a cell adhesion promoter. It exhibits notable biocompatibility and mucoadhesion properties, facilitating effective wound closure and tissue healing. This multifunctional biomaterial is utilized in diverse applications including tissue engineering, 3D scaffolding, and drug delivery systems. While high doses may cause reversible forestomach epithelial hyperplasia in mice, it does not demonstrate mutagenic or carcinogenic effects. Tragacanth gum is relevant in research pertaining to systemic candidiasis, rheumatoid arthritis, and osteosarcoma.
