Ulacamten
Cardiac Myosin Inhibitor
Ulacamten is a selective cardiac myosin inhibitor that targets the double-headed cardiac heavy meromyosin (HMM) ATPase, exhibiting an EC50 of 2.9 μM. This compound effectively modulates cardiac myosin activity, leading to reduced myocardial contractility and alleviation of left ventricular outflow tract obstruction. Ulacamten has demonstrated the ability to increase left ventricular short-axis systolic internal diameter and inhibit obstruction exacerbated by dobutamine, while minimally impacting left ventricular systolic function and calcium transients. Its safety and tolerability have been confirmed in purpose-bred cats with naturally occurring obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, making it a valuable tool for cardiac research applications.
