Uridine diphosphate glucuronic acid

Glucuronite Donor

Uridine diphosphate glucuronic acid (UDP-α-D-glucuronic acid) functions as a glucuronic acid donor, playing a significant role in the formation of glucuronides through the transfer of its glucuronic acid moiety to various acceptor molecules. This process results in the conversion of UDP-glucuronic acid to uridine 5'-pyrophosphate. UDP-α-D-glucuronic acid is also a substrate for Arabidopsis UDP-GlcA 4-epimerase 1, enabling reversible 4-epimerization to produce UDP-α-D-galacturonic acid. This compound is valuable for studies related to glycosylation and metabolic pathways in plant and mammalian systems.
