Valerate sodium

Short-chain Fatty Acid Sodium

Valerate sodium is the sodium salt of valeric acid, a short-chain fatty acid that targets the modulation of neurotransmitter levels. It exhibits significant biological activity by reducing binge ethanol intake and decreasing blood ethanol concentration in murine models and demonstrates anxiolytic properties. Valerate sodium also enhances GABA levels, influences epigenetic regulation, and modifies gut microbiome composition. This compound is valuable for research applications focused on understanding excessive alcohol consumption and its associated effects.
