Verruculogen

Tremorgenic Mycotoxin

Verruculogen is a tremorgenic mycotoxin that primarily targets the M phase of the mammalian cell cycle. It is produced by various species of Penicillium and Aspergillus. This compound enhances the binding affinity of ChTX to maxi-K channels, with a K1/2 value of 170 nM, and inhibits the amplitude of Ca2+-activated K+ currents. Research applications include studies of neurotoxic effects and cellular mechanisms involved in tremor induction.
