Vincamine

Vasodilator

Vincamine is a monoterpenoid indole alkaloid that functions primarily as a peripheral vasodilator. It selectively regulates microcirculation in the brain, enhancing blood flow and oxygen delivery. Additionally, Vincamine acts as a GPR40 agonist, providing protective effects on pancreatic β-cells by enhancing glucose-stimulated insulin secretion and improving glucose homeostasis in vivo. Its unique properties make Vincamine valuable for research focused on type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and related metabolic disorders.
