VL-422

Cationic Lipid

VL-422 is an ionizable cationic lipid designed for the delivery of CRISPR/Cas9 components, including single-guide RNA (sgRNA) and Cas9 mRNA. It facilitates in vitro and in vivo gene editing by effectively transporting these nucleic acids to target cells. In preclinical studies using cynomolgus monkeys, VL-422 encapsulating Cas9 mRNA and ANGPTL3-targeting sgRNA demonstrated the capability to induce deletions of premature stop codons, resulting in reduced LDL, HDL, and cholesterol levels in plasma. This versatile delivery system is instrumental in advancing research on gene editing strategies associated with lipid metabolism disorders.
